Can I transfer to a UC if a get a D in the fall and make up the class/units in spring?

So I just found out I failed a class this semester and I submitted my application a few weeks ago from a CCC to the UCs for Fall 2016. I’m taking a placement test that is going to allow me to take the next level math class that I would be taking if I passed the course, and am also planning on taking another course that will make up my lost units so that I will have completed at least 60 units by the end of spring. The class I failed is not needed as as an IGETC or major pre req.

My question is, even though I got a D in a class this fall before transferring, do you think taking the next course and completing the 60 in the spring will still make me eligible for transferring? Obviously my chances would be low I just want to know if it is at all possible to still qualify.

Thanks!

I think yes. But you need to bring your overall grade up.

Are you positive that you can do well on the placement test? I’ve found placement tests to be notoriously hard to study for since it’s almost impossible to know what to actually study. I tried my best to test out of intermediate algebra, but I wound up getting the same exact score twice (I waited a whole year just so I could re-take the exam). I say you still have a chance if you rock the higher level course, but it would be nice if you could re-take the course and aim for a higher grade since UC’s do honor grade forgiveness unlike some schools.
