Can I transfer to Brown or Boston College with an actual good chance?

Or Northeastern or BU. I am currently enrolled in community college due to financial reasons. I was in over 10 AP courses in high school, obtained an unweighted 3.98 GPA, speak two languages fluently, in college I have maintained a GPA of 3.7, have completed Honors projects and honors classes, am a certified nurse assistant, and am planning to go on a 4-week trip to volunteer at a hospital in India, Delhi after raising $5,000 dollars myself. I have won multiple academic awards in high school; however, my SAT score was only 1130. Should I retake it? Is it okay if a 20 year old retakes it? If I were to retake the SATs, would my chances increase, regardless of when I took them? Thanks!

Go talk with the Transfer Advisor at your CC. Ask about where and when you should be applying to transfer. If you couldn’t afford Northeastern or BU as a freshman applicant with your GPA, then chances are you won’t be able to afford either of them now. You need to find options that can work for you.

Brown is quite a lot more difficult to get into than BU, BC or Northeastern.
Getting a higher SAT would probably help, there are many transfers that retake the test, even at 20. I would focus on getting a higher GPA for now, 3.7 might be on the low side for some schools, check out the past CC threads to get an idea.

How many CC credits will you have by the time you transfer?

I agree that you should speak with your CC transfer adviser and create a list of schools that fit with your stats, and that would be affordable. What state do you live in?

Regarding the SAT, you should check if your target schools consider test scores retaken as a college student…some do, while others don’t.

Good luck.

Do you need financial aid? BU is not known for giving good financial aid, and MOST schools aren’t good at giving financial aid to transfer students.

So while your academics are impressive, your chance of matriculation are really dictated by the extent of your required financial aid.
