Can I transfer to MSU with a 2.9 gpa?

I have a 2.9 gpa at um dearborn, which is not as bad as it looks, it consists of mostly B's with A's and a few B-'s and C's in classes that I should have done better in (history). Please give my any thoughts you may have. I have 68 credits.

A person who is pretty much exactly the same as you made another thread a few days ago, you should check it out

Oh wait…

yes, very observant of you…oh wait you didn’t give any advice, critical or positive…

Pretty much the only people on here that can give you advice, did.

Ok, thanks. I am new here so I don’t really know how it works, I just thought I would try and find out more info because apparently MSU does not have admissions counselors that could answer these questions.

^ Why do you say that? They obviously cannot say who can/cannot get in.

Oh, what I meant was, I called them and asked if they had things like walk-in advising and something for questions but they said they don’t offer that there. That’s all I meant by it.

I think u have a pretty good chance. The average gpa for transfer students is a 3.0 and ur almost there LOL

^ How do you know that?

I am trying to transfer there as well and my gpa is a 2.8 right now so I have talked to the admissions office a few times…they said that the average gpa for transfer students is 3.0…

lol this thread started january 2010

just fyi

I live near MSU, and know all about the transferring policies as I know many who attended LCC and have/ will opt to transfer. Unfortunately I think your chances will be below average, also noting that MSU transfer acceptance rate is around 50%.

J89 ur so right hahaha!! Wow now I feel dumb…I never looked at the date…I’m new here LOL:( but coolbrezze do u think I wont get in…I applied in hs and got rejected. Now im at a cc and finished my fall semester with a 2.8gpa :frowning: I’m applying for fall 2011 and will finish 33 credits I work basically full-time 36 hrs and go to school Idk if they like to see That or not…but that’s abt it…what do u think  is it ganna be a hell no…or r they gana want to see my winter gradess before final decision

Oh no, I am just stating that odds work against you. Though you mention that you applied before, so previous interest can definately help along 33 credits. You definately will need to do good for this spring semester.
Goodluck

I am trying to transfer to MSU, Oregon State U, UT, and not sure where else but my gpa is 3.45 and i have 43 completed quarter credits I have horrible high school grades so i dont know how much thats going to hurt me but I don’t know if I have a chance at any of these places
thoughts?

Hey gilbert, if your college GPA is 3.4, don’t worry so much about your high school grades. Your college grades matter way more, although they do look at your hs grades. You definitely have a shot at MSU, though it is not a sure thing by any means

This is straight from Michigan State’s Office of Admissions website:

If you have completed fewer than 28 semester credits, submit official final high school transcripts and ACT or SAT scores. The ACT code is 2032; the SAT code is 1465.

High school transcript and ACT/SAT scores are only needed if you have under 28 credits.

Can somebody chance me getting into MSU? I just submitted my final semester grades for review. I have a total of 30 credits.

High School GPA: 3.4
ACT: 20
College GPA: 3.52
I have met the writing and math credit
Apart of the Alpha Delta Lambda Honor Society
Working Part Time

You’ll probably get in. High school stats don’t matter after you have 30 credits, and a 3.5 is very solid.

I have 64 credits and a 3.4 Gpa.
Are my chances good?
