Can I transfer to UC without fulfilling all of the requirements?

I am a freshman in UIUC and plan to transfer to UCLA in my sophomore. The basic academic criteria says that applicants must finish two transferable English Composition courses prior to the spring before transfer, but I really can't fulfill this requirement because I took two substitute writing courses mistakenly. I guess only one course will be counted in. Is there any chance I can get into UCLA in this circumstance? Million Thanks!!

If you really want to get to a school like UCLA, you need to fulfill all of the requirements. Even people get rejected for missing one or two for lower tiered UC’s…

Not going to happen. You need 60 units / be a junior level transfer to be considered for admission. Furthermore less than 5% of transfers are from OOS / not CCC.

If you want to come to LA I’d look into USC.

I think your question answers itself… they are called “requirements” and not “recommendations” for a reason.

Of all the requirements, English and math are the ones you really can’t afford to skip. They are part of the most basic of criteria to transfer.

You want to get into the most applied-to university in the US without fulfilling all the REQUIREments?

English and Math courses are critical, and I highly doubt that they would admit you. I was told that before they even get to your personal statement, they check to see if you have fulfilled your requirements. If your requirements are incomplete, they don’t bother wasting their time with the rest of your application. I hope this helps and good luck.

They only accept Junior Transfers!!

They accept some sophomore transfers but it’s really really hard

If by “really really hard” you mean not possible then you’d be right. UCLA is clearly stated as closed to lower division transfers in the UC Transfer Matrix at <a href=“Redirect Notice”>http://■■■■■■■.com/lgz7apr

@mikemac No it is possible, if the student can complete the minimum 60 units in a year. They just wouldn’t be considered a sophomore transfer anymore lol. I’m not really sure if that’s what the OP was asking.
