I recently heard about the Columbia University-Sciences PO (French university) dual degree program, which sounds very exciting. However... Columbia's not an easy school to get into.

UBC (the University of British Columbia) also has a dual degree program with Sciences PO. But because it's Canadian, I have no idea how it ranks in comparison to American universities. I'm a competitive (American) student, so I feel like I could do better than UBC (despite the appeal of the dual degree program - after all, most schools I'm looking at offer study abroad options.)

I've heard that UBC is comparable to UC Berkeley / UCLA (maybe less competitive.) However, when I visited topuniversities.com, UBC is ranked above Brown (which I considered a better school than the UCs) in overall world university rankings - #43 vs. #52. It's also ranked #24 for its academic reputation (lower than the UCs and Columbia, higher than UPenn and Brown - ranked #112.)

Anyone know how UBC ranks? Or how trustworthy topuniversities.com is?
