I earned a seat of distinction during my All-State Music Festival this past weekend. I'm wondering if there's any way I can update this information for my Yale application, and whether there is any advantage in doing so. My biggest worry, of course, is that it's too late for them to reevaluate my application just because of one more achievement. I applied Early Action.

I'm pretty sure they're done reviewing apps. Either that, or very close to it. Telling them now probably wouldn't make any difference to your app.

Then again, that's just my opinion.

What if we are deferred under SCEA? Can we send some more information for RD? How could we do it?

Mike -- My son is in the same position -- just found out about an award in yesterday's mail. From what I understand, sometimes the admissions team is making "adjustments" up until the last minute. I suggest you speak with your GC first thing Monday AM to see how best to transmit your new info to Yale.
Congrats on your award.

Thanks for the replies! I will speak with my GC ASAP and I'll report back on what he says.

I also have the feeling that they are done, if not very close to being finished with all the application reviews.

Isn't that a scary thought? Decisions are probably made, it's just a matter of getting envelopes sealed up now... ahhhhh!

haha.. I suppose.. But what it is is what it is. No point in fretting too much.

If you get deferred, you may send in supplemental things. That's what I'm going to be doing.

Don't know if it is too late to send in additional info for SCEA at this point, although no harm in trying. But definitely if deferred, you should send this information, perhaps in a letter expressing disappointment about being deferred but how much you are still interested in Yale. My daughter, after being deferred, wrote a nice letter updating them with information about being named captain of a varsity sports team, something else she was doing, and how much she was still interested in attending Yale. Don't know if it helped or not, but she was accepted RD (she is also a legacy which I'm sure helped).

So I talked to my GC, and he told me that he would personally call Yale to update the information. I told him I wasn't sure where I'd send the information, and he said he would do it for me. He's the best!

oh Rick, you don't know if that's what you're going to be doing.

that, however, is what I am going to be doing.

cornell75, was your daughter accepted rd to cornell? or yale?
