For example: I completed "Topic 1" for common app

And Temple and penn state have similar topics (I'll post them later)

So can I use the same essay??

Aren’t those “topics” supplementary? meaning they want them in addition to Common App essay

Don’t use a common app essay as your supplement essay because whoever is reading your app at both of those schools will end up reading the same essay twice which, in my opinion, looks very lazy.

If I use the same essay for two supplements (assuming it fits the topics), is that acceptable?

^ I don’t see why not. It’s not like the colleges will see that you sent the same essay to another college. Just make sure you remember to change the name of the school if you’re including that in the essay.

No see temple, pennstate, and Pitt use their own application not common app

And topic 1 IS the common app essay

heres the topics for

Topic ONE of Common App essay: Evaluate a significant experience, achievement, risk you have taken, or ethical dilemma you have faced and its impact on you.

Temple: Please tell us more about yourself. Relate one or more experiences or circumstances that have contributed to your personal and/or academic development. If you have been out of school for a year or longer, please discuss your activities during that period of time.

Penn State: Please tell us something about yourself, your experiences, or activities that you believe would reflect positively on your ability to succeed at Penn State. This is your opportunity to tell us something about yourself that is not already reflected in your application or academic records. We suggest a limit of 500 words or fewer.

** neither of these schools use common app, thats why i asking**

buuumppp…

In that case, as yankeesfanatic said, as long as you don’t say “this is why I will succeed at Temple” to Penn State, you should be fine.

My essay isn’t geared toward any specific college, it’s just about a hardship I faced that inspired me to believe that the sky is the limit

Hi, I think that your idea of using essays for multiple schools is great. Just had to say that Penn State won’t be a regret. I visited the campus for a week and I absolutely love everything about it. The atmosphere, the people, the campus, the downtown area, the food, and did I mention the people? Haha, might be the friendliest I’ve met in my life. Anyways good luck with college apps as I am experiencing the same struggles right now.
