Hello everyone, I'm currently a student at a CC and was wondering if AP credits are transferable.

I have 10.67 AP semester credits, but I'm wondering if I can count those toward the 60 transfer credits needed to transfer to a UC. Both AP classes are accepted under UC guidelines.
Just seeing if I need to take summer school or not.
Thanks.

Yes you can! Make sure to talk to your counselor to accumulate them though!

yes i had around 20

Depending on school. My friend took AP chemistry but UCSD told her that she has to retake chemistry there. So it really depends on school and what it allow you to use those AP credits or not.

Yes, but like Waterox said it depends on the school. Some schools may accept certain APs, some may want a certain score, and others may not accept it at all. Keep this in mind when applying to multiple schools.

The UCs give transfer students credit for AP classes and it helps in reaching the 60 unit minimum. In many cases it also satisfies an IGETC requirement or UC transfer study subject area. It is never the case they don’t accept units from an AP test, although they may just count towards the 60 units. The rules followed by all UC campuses are at <a href=“University of California Counselors”>University of California Counselors;

Each major at a campus has the flexibility to decide whether the AP class is counted towards the requirements of the major. As pointed out some campuses will require you to take their version of a class even though you already took a similar AP class. In such a case the AP credit will still count towards the 60 units you need for admission and towards the total number of units you need for UC graduation.
