I just realized that Rice's common app supplement had to be printed out, hand-written, and mailed in. It's due today, and I was planning on doing it online. So I decided to apply using their own application. I paid so I could get to the 2nd form of it, and then realized that my essay might not work with Rice's question.

This is the question: "The quality of Rice's academic, cultural, and social life is heavily influenced by the unique life experiences and cultural traditions each student brings. What perspective do you feel that you will contribute to life at Rice?"

Do you think I have to directly say, "I will bring yada perspective to Rice," or can I just use my random essay that talks about my experience? Would it look bad if I didn't directly answer the question?

P.S.: My essay talks about growing up lacking weight and height. I don't ever directly mention my "perspective."
