Can I visit during winter break?

If I go either tomorrow or on Monday, will there be ANYONE on campus? I know that the admissions office is closed and tours are unavaliable, but if I just want to walk around and see if it's a good "fit" for me, could I go during the next few days? UPenn doesn't factor level of interest (whether you visit or not) into their admissions considerations, right?

i don’t know how you could assess fit without seeing what life is like when everyone’s there…

Well the supplement essay is about whether you have a Penn community you fit into, so learning a bit about what goes on there shows interest. You don’t have to visit the campus, but you need to do research i.e scour their website, talk to current students, and talk to alumns.

I already submitted my application over a month ago (speaking of which, when are they supposed to contact you to set up an interview?). Would there be any point in visiting?

Interview depends on availability. I had mine like 2 weeks b4 early decision was out so I guess it depends.

To just see the buildings, sure, go ahead and visit. Very few people will be on campus and you won’t get any sort of feeling at all of what campus life is like.

I got my interview in February last year.

You probably can visit during winter break to just check out how much “campus” there is, as compared to say BU or NYU or Columbia, etc, etc.
That said, there really isn’t much point if there is any other time you can visit. I was there til the very end of finals, and campus was basically deserted. You truly won’t get a feel of Penn until you walk down Locust and are flyered to death (it’s an experience!). Sit in Van Pelt and see if it feels comfortable. Walk around campus and see the people-do they look like people you’d want to hang out with? people you’d want to be with?
