All work for the semester is typically given on a syllabus handed out on the first day. The prof/ta will most likely never bring up your work in class except to make amendments, which are usually emailed to all the students in the class. We also have a site called collab where assignments are posted, you may be responsible for checking that on your own. If so, your prof will indicate that in your syllabus.

I am still not sure if getting from dell 1 to gibson is possible in 10 min ON BIKE… Google says it is 4 minutes, but unchaining, chaining the bike + getting insde and finding the classroom… Is it possible?

haha - No. If you really want to take both classes back to back, accept that you’re going to be late, and tell the professor that you’re always going to be late coming to class. He or she will understand.

but it seems to be soo close… just don’t want to ruin my schedule rearranging classes…

hahahaman - I’m pretty sure that you could make it. I’ve walked from Wilson to Gilmer (which seems like a greater distance looking at a map) in a 10 min break and was always on time, so I think you will be ok going Dell 1 to Gibson on a bike IF you bike down Emmet, then down Jefferson Park Avenue to the ground floor of Gibson INSTEAD of going to Cabell and over the bridge. However, I’ve never biked that myself so I don’t know if there’s anything unexpected on that route that would slow you down considerably. I can’t think of anything but yeah. I think the best advice I can give you is to A) Try biking the route sometime before classes start to see how it goes, find exactly where you can chain your bike, and be aware of how long that all takes. B) Find your classroom in Gibson the day before classes start so you won’t be late the first day trying to find it. If you find that you are still a few minutes late, just email or talk to your prof in the Gibson class to make sure it will be ok if you’re a little late. Alternatively you can talk to your professor in your Dell 1 class about leaving a little bit early. They are usually very understanding. If you can’t make ANY of that work than you might have to think about re-arranging, but I wouldn’t change your schedule until you’ve tried everything if you really need those classes. Sorry for writing you a whole novel here but I also hate having to re-do my schedule because of transport issues so I wanted to help as much as possible!

thanks a lot! really helpful! I am still on wait list for earlier class, just not sure I’ll make it there…

You all have to remember with the new construction it is going to take longer to get to the south lawn. The entire 2nd floor of cabell is closed (unless they’re done with that by now), so to get to the pedestrian bridge you have to go down the side stairs by the bus stop, down to the ground floor and out, and then around the construction to get back to the bridge.

Yeah I was suggesting s/he just bike down JPA from Emmet and enter at the ground floor of Gibson instead of using the bridge.

The schedule has changed and now it is said that the second class will take place at Nau. Is it more comfortable and faster to get there from dell 1?

Nau and Gibson are actually two halves of the same building, so it is the same.

chemistry building to nau hall in 10 minutes?

no (10 chars)

maybe i should bring a bike…-_-

I don’t know why everyone wants to take classes back to back anyways. I always spaced mine out. This is possibly the only year you’ll live close enough (theoretically) to do that anyways. If I did take back to backs, I did it Tu/Th so I had 15 minutes in between. In high school you’re forced to sit there for hours not paying attention. In college you are paying, you want to be fresh for every class. I always liked to get there early, get the seat I wanted, etc. Just saying - you can look at it that way instead. You only have 5 classes… You should be able to take 1 before lunch and 1 after lunch if you insist on being near classes for extended periods of times (do this m/w/f and t/t and you have 4 classes covered), maybe one other in the morning or late afternoon or one day a week like a lab, and there are your five.

I personally prefer taking my classes back to back. Helps keep me in the zone! I also give precedence to fitting in all the classes I want/need over scheduling inconveniences. Just my two cents.

Need to walk from Gilmer to Gibson in 15 minutes - is that doable? Would there be a few minutes to get settled once I got there?
