<p>Generally all the counselors at my school say to write about something that happened to you in the past three years. Which makes sense, because admissions officers want to know about the most recent version of you, not who you were when you were five.
Still, if I relate to how an experience changed me and influenced who I am today, can I still talk about it even though it happened in elementary school?</p>
