Can I Write My Essay in the Form of a Poem?

I just had a brilliant idea for one of the essays, however, it would be incredibly tough to write as an essay. Will they accept a poem, or is that too much of a risk? BTW, I am talking about one of the extended essays.

You want to write a one or two page poem?

Why not? Go for it.

You can. There is nothing stopping you, it has been done before, I highly doubt Chicago adcoms would hold the format of your essay against you, etc.

You are probably not as good of a poet as you think you are, and the quality of your poetry will be held against you.

Take your chances.

^Haha, yes!

That as my immediate thought when I read the title of this thread.

I was like, poems are awesome. Bad poems are horrific. Most high school students can write better prose than poetry. Well. Up to you ;).

Maybe she is doing some sort of a mock epic? Hence the one-two pages.

I’m a male…But no that’s not really what I’m going for, thanks for the responses.

Sorry >< I don’t watch my pronouns closely.
