Can kids miss a lab without bad consequences?

do you know if kids are allowed to miss a lab?

my DD was planning to come home for the fall break, but the calendar change kind of messes that up a little. she could still come home on thursday, but to catch the latest flight, she would still have to miss a lab.

is this ok or its it a complete nono.

can you go ahead and go to the lab earlier in the week as a “make up”?

i am not booking anything now, just looking.

the SWA flights are cheaper than they have been in a while.

Mike: My son just told me if there is any chemistry class for that level (for example, Chem 101) that has a Friday lab and thus would be cancelled, all labs that week for that class should be cancelled. That’s a rule that the science department has. They do not want the labs to be out of sequence.

He also said that you can take one drop lab, which is the zero you take for missing a lab or your worst lab grade.

now, i remember reading about the labs being cancelled for the week. that solves that!

: )

thanks.

Different classes have different policies. If you don’t mind waiting until school starts to purchase her tickets, she could possibly leave earlier Thursday or even on Wednesday. Hopefully the flight you’re looking at times well with the UA airport shuttle if she’s using that (assume a 1hr30min-1hr45min ride time due to delays).

Really, you should never miss any labs because you do not know when you will come across that one lab you do not understand and do poorly on. Missing a lab basically puts you in a hole because you a much smaller margin of error. I’ve missed one lab because I was feeling awful (cold sweats, completely drained, dehydrated, etc.), and I suffered because there was one lab that simply didn’t make sense.

Luckily, the labs do not build upon each other (well, at least the introductory classes) so you are not in that bad of shape should you miss.
