how did cal reject you…
ucla/cal seem extremely eratic in their admissions.
Yeah, I would never reject an Eagle Scout with your statistics, that commenation says a lot, something that the UC Admissions won’t see with their number system, but hey their loss.
Go Stanford!!! That’s oneup for us, and one miss for Cal (Cardinal doesn’t flaunt like gold, we just take it in stride )
I am also suprised with the Berkeley decision. You are a great applicant and I hope you have a great time at the amazing school of Stanford.
just shows how out of state applicants hold a great disadvantage when applying to the UCs
so discouraging, I think I have no hope of UCB anymore
brahms was out of state for UCB.
liangshentm, don’t give up hope if you’re out of state! Many kids from my school were accepted to UC Berkeley, even to EECS, which was the program I was applying for.
the reason why I feel discouraging is because of that I am OOS…
are you an international student?
bingo I am but I was told that internationals are also treated as OOSs
Whirl-winds post discourages me-- it seems like what those top scores really care about in the end is the perfect test scores. Without any ECs, you were able to get in to so many amazing schools. Are the numbers really all that matter? I have an 800 CR, 700 M, 780 W, so perhaps for those of us who can’t swing perfect 800’s on everything, it actually matters what we do outside of school.
To the one who started a bakery-- that’s amazing. Congratulations. I’m hugely impressed
artcoffeejazz, who is whirl-winds, i can’t seem to find that post you’re referring to
edit: found it
actually, to me, the remarkable thing about that user was not test scores. it was the thing about “publishing math papers in math journals.” that is HIGHLY impressive…clearly not your average math whiz…also, that person didn’t list his/her stats in much detail so he/she probably had even more
sooo yeah…why does it seem like no one is getting into duke?

redorange, how many AP’s did you take in your high school career? Just wondering. It’s a breath of fresh air to see that someone got into Harvard without having a frillion EC’s and leadership positions.
I took 4 AP tests freshman-junior year, and 6 AP classes senior year. However, I only took three AP tests senior year because Yale doesn’t give credit for a lot of them.
All you HYPSM people are crazy :p!
what is AIME
