Can more graduated seniors do "actual results" threads?

Who are you talking about?

I wouldn’t say that DinaZhang. Its just that Stanford looks at more than just grades, they realize that little differences in SAT and GPA mean pretty much nothing.

PS: How much is ‘lower stats’? I had a 4.0 UW GPA and in SAT 800Math 700CR and 2 800 in SAT2 and one 740, sure some people may have had higher but the difference would mean extremely little to nothing which Stanford realizes.

SAT’s: Math: 800 (720 at age 12), CR: 730, Writing: 790

Sat II’s: Math IIC (or whatever it is now): 800
Physics: 700
US History: 660 I think
Spanish: 670 Or so.

GPA- 3.45 unweighted, 3.99 weighted.

Rank: School does not rank, but would have been in top 10%.

Ap’s - Euro: 5; Stat: 5; Calc - BC 4(5 subscore for AB), Econ - 5 micro, 4 macro; Psych: 5

Personal - Went to a magent school that is ranked as one of the best (and most competitive) in the country. White female. Was not born in America and live in CA.

ECS -
2 years - photo club
1 year - Worked as a TA for Sunday school
2 years - tennis
3 years - Jewish club, two years as President.

3 years - Organized, ran, and fundraised for an international clothes drive
2 years - CSF life member
1 year - Library TA
2 years - Took classes at EPGY
4 years - Various math competitions including one at Pomona. Usually placed.
4 years - volunteered at JCC
2 years - Dance
2 years - Tutored (on my own, no program or anything organized) math
Spent a summer in Spain, studying.

Essays- Completely blew off my Stanford essay (made mistakes in it on purpose, etc.) to make chance of acceptance negative. “Forgot” to send in test results to UCLA for the same reason. According to people who read my essays they were beautifully written and very unusual. I decided to risk it and wrote them in a very un-essay style that I’m more comftorable in. I also incorporated a lot of my dry humor into the essays and tried to make them more about me.

Interviews - Skipped on interviews for college, but did have one for scholarship at USC. Sadly, got sick two days before and now can’t actually remember anything that happened. Apparently, I did well. Sure.

Recs - English and math teacher (also my math coach at the same time) wrote stellar rec’s. Councellor had no idea who I was since she was very new and basically didn’t write one.

Results - Didn’t get into UCLA and Stanford. (Apparently I would have gotten into UCLA if they had my scores. Which is why they didn’t have them. :wink: )
Got into UCSC, UCD, UCSB, UCSD, and Claremont McKenna. Also got into USC with 50% scholarship and will be going there. CMC is still bothering me about why I’m not going to their school.

DinaZhang I dont know how did you get that conclusion, all the perfect scores in this thread got into top tier schools, and the acceptance rate of 2300s is greater too based on this thread’s data

D&G= wowza!

shyshadow, no need to make excuses. For example, you don’t even need to send test scores to UCLA until after you are accepted. You are so arrogant I thought you were a boy! :slight_smile:

well, maybe I got the wrong conclusion
but, lets see
<a href=“http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=215577&page=5&highlight=Stanford[/url]”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=215577&page=5&highlight=Stanford&lt;/a&gt;

on that page, we can find a kid got in , and another got rejected…and some other kids in almost the same situation.

and their scores are just like what I mentioned…

You really can’t draw any conclusions based on that…

<ol>
<li>
why did you purposefully do mistakes on them
</li>
<li>
Why didn’t you just say “I’m not applying here. I’m my own person”. If it was a parental thing than I’m sure they woulda been more proud of that than you being sneaky about it like that…sorry it’s just weird to me [me being blunt]. Great stats tho and congrats on ur acceptance and scholarship
</li>
</ol>

hah, maybe its kind of arbitrary…

I was just wondering, and no fault with that, right? :slight_smile:

Stanford was my Dad’s dream. The fact that I had no chance and didn’t want to go there didn’t stop him. And I wanted to make sure there was no chance of me getting in. Probably didn’t even have to, with my rather low gpa. Councellor forced me to apply to UCLA. My mom actually did know that I had made sure my chances were zilch, seeing as how she was the one who helped me. And then I got teased at school for not getting into UCLA, so rather defensive about it now.

i c, i c, tough situation.

D&G, what does your username stand for? I think I know…

DinaZhang, the person with over 2300 got into 2 ivies, its very good already
