Can more graduated seniors do "actual results" threads?

Accepted: Carnegie Mellon - Mellon College of Science (Early Decision), University of Michigan - LSA (EA), UIUC - College of Business (EA)

I got into CMU so I cancelled the rest of my apps. For my complete stats, look at my post on the following thread: <a href=“http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/carnegie-mellon-2017/1431553-official-carnegie-mellon-2017-results-thread.html[/url]”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/carnegie-mellon-2017/1431553-official-carnegie-mellon-2017-results-thread.html&lt;/a&gt;

UVA releases January 31st EA to all those on edge. dogluva, stop causing unnecessary stress.

He probs just meant that so far he only got accepted into Georgia Tech but all other letters he recieved were rejection letters.

I’m dying to post my results thread come May! Of course I’m way overshadowed by 98% of this thread haha

Honestly you guys… CC is full of ***** sometimes. I got in where I wanted to go with essentially no notable service or leadership. You don’t have to have perfect SATs with like 200,000 hours of community service and like 3 clubs that you founded to get into the nation’s top schools. Do your best in school, get involved in the things you love, and write essays about those things. And that’s it. You don’t have to put on a big show about it.

I mean granted, good SATs still matter. And as far as schools like Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, ect, it’s still anyone’s guess. Seriously though guys, it’s high school. Enjoy it, do what you need to do, and you’ll be fine.

Classes: Pretty much the most challenging available; even our valedict didn’t take as hard or as many. It was rough; probably why I didn’t get a great gpa…

EC’s: Academic Decathlon, Model UN, BPA, NHS, Circle of Friends (Community Service)

Volunteering: A little here and a little there; totaled 108 hrs

Rec Letters: Pretty sure they were good; English teacher said he wrote 2 pgs single spaced; could mean several different things…;

Ec’s:
Heavy emphasis on soccer. Varsity Soccer 4 years, Nationally recognized, assorted club teams for 11 years.

Rec’s: Stellar from my two english teachers, with whom I have great relationships. My Counselor’s rec was excellent as well. Along with the written rec she spoke on the phone with my admissions officer for a lengthy amount of time.

Essays:
Drew heavily on my identity

  1. On the dichotomy of “me”. The contradictions that arise and the effect on my identity (specifically personality)
  2. On New York City (Favorite city) and how its features are indicative of my identity
    I thought they were excellent, in an objective sense haha

Other:
I am a double legacy (Mother and Father) at Williams. I have taken trips there for most of my life for reunions and and such, with the most recent one including an interview and a meeting with admissions and coaches. Both no doubt helped significantly.
To be honest I had no expectations of being accepted and am over the moon that I was.

Overall I have been extremely lucky, in that I had a relatively stress free application process. I was way too lax in applying. However I received my decision early and as such have been able to relax during what would normally be the most stressful time of high school.

Oh, I almost forgot, CONGRATS TO EVERYONE ON YOUR ACCEPTANCES. I sincerely hope that you all have a wonderful experience wherever you go.

so it takes a 4.0 UW GPA and a 2400 on the SAT to get into harvard? No wonder facebook was created…

A 4.0UW and 2400 doesn’t get you into Harvard. Many people are rejected with those stats.

one of the earlier posters did (some indian kid).
Thats where i got that info
