Very useful thread, but I find it funny that someone accepted to HYP and attending Princeton should say their unweighted GPA was 4.02.

[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Essays probably; a friend of mine with far superior stats to mine was rejected from NYU while I was waitlisted; proof that what you talk about and how you present yourself really does matter a lot
[/li]
[/ul]General Comments: I picked UCSB because the financial aid offer was the best, although I almost picked Fordham because I really wanted to be in NYC, and for an expensive private university, they gave me a very good financial aid offer. I also loved UCSB’s campus obviously, right on the beach, and it’s still quite reputable for its academics and research opportunities.

Weaknesses: I could improve on my writing skills
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: My essays could have been better for Wisconsin Madison, but I also heard that they are becoming very selective in their admissions (I’m out-of-state for Wisconsin).
General Comments:
Even though I am admitted into my alternate decision (Statistics and Computer Science, LAS), I picked UIUC because their computer science program is top 5. Depending on how well my freshman year goes, I might consider transferring into the Engineering Department.
Congratulations artfowl. My son has also applied ED to rit game design program. We are anxiously awaiting a decision. His stats are similar to yours, so that gives us hope but worried we haven’t heard anything yet. When did you apply, when/how were you notified?

Hooks- I’m part of a program called the Commonwealth Governor’s School. It’s a college prep program that only admits 30 students per grade from all of the high schools in the district. I’m pretty sure this is what got me into UVa since my ECs are pretty lame.

Hi, im waiting for letters from the schools i applied to. i got a 1360 in the sat the first time I took it and the second time it went up to 1460. I did fairly good in the math section 550, english section 480. my current gpa is about 3.4ish but should go up a decent amount this year with my grades this year which are mainly A’s and some B’s. i have taken 3 AP classes including this year with my AP calc. i got a B first semester, and holding an A at this moment. UC’s applied- Merced, LA, San diego, Riverside. CALstates- pomona, san luis, and san diego state. Ive been rejected by Long Beach already. I also been accpeting to Northern State univeristy. What are my chances into these schools? thank you
@iparra34 I think you are a match for Merced or Riverside. The other UCs are very selective and will be major reaches. I’m not sure about the Cal States, but I know that Cal poly is the most selective.
my junior year i always looked forward to the day when i could post in this thread! and now i can! i’m done!
