Hello, I'm in deep trouble and need help. I made the wrong college decision and want to transfer to a college I was previously admitted to after this semester (freshman). Will I be able to get back my scholarship from there? Its the only way I would be able to transfer.

Maybe. You should contact the school that you want to transfer to.

Thank you, I will. Have you had any experience with this or have any stories of others trying to do the same? The college is no where near selective (U of Arizona).

The only way you’d be able to find out would be to contact the school again. They would most likely tell you that you would just need to apply again and that a new decision would be made.

From personal experience, the answer is extremely likely to be no. Scholarships have rules attached to them and typically if you were applying as an incoming freshman, then those scholarships are only available to you as an incoming freshman. Since you went to another school, you’re no longer considered “incoming,” as in “straight out-of-high-school.” As such, it’s incredibly unlikely.

I contacted the university, and they told me that I would have to reapply again (but its pretty much guaranteed I’ll get in again) and that generally scholarships are lost after attending another school BUT since it has only been one semester they are letting me send in a letter to the financial aid office and they will review my situation. The way I see it is why wouldn’t they want to invest in my future and take my money from one place to theirs for good? Especially with my grades and test scores, I feel they will give me another chance to attend their institution. I am also coming from an college with a bit higher of prestige. We’ll see, I hope everything turns out well. A response should come with my acceptance.

Good luck!
