@heatherian Did you study for the exam? Were you sick on test day? Were there any distractions. Think first. Could there have been anything that warranted a 2?

@turtle787 I’d say a rescore for you as well.

@superstarlala I did study, I went through a review book and practice a ton. i was on game that day, more comfortable than usual.

I received a 2 on the AP Lang exam but got 4s on all other exams. I felt most confident with the ap Lang exam as my essays were golden. Is there a way to see what I messed up on like the essays or the mc? Can they rescore it?

I also received a 2 on AP Lang and Comp. I’m not trying to brag about myself, but I’m the top writer in my class. Im still dumbfounded by this. I’ve received multiple 9’s on each essay before. I don’t understand why I got a 2 on this exam. I felt confident after finishing each essay. I answered 80% of the mc and at least 3-4 pages per essay. Should I request a rescore?

They could’ve always made a mistake. So if I were you, I would get a rescore! Besides, The rescore is by hand and done by a human, rather than a machine. So, if you’re like1-3 points or so away from a 3 (on the rescore) the person who’s rescoring you might just end up giving you the 3! So it’s definitely worth a shot, in my opinion!

Hey it happens. Sometimes the person you least expect to pass the ap exam can end up pulling off a 3, and you getting a 2. Maybe it’s fate haha.

And zephyr, it’s been mentioned several times in this thread. Just because you may be the top writer in your class or getting straight As doesn’t mean your ap score should reflect that. It can often be due to your teacher grading/expectations

I vaguely remember there being an option to get a detailed score report where you can get the reasoning behind your score. It is incredibly common for teachers to give out 9s that students don’t deserve in order to mother them. My AP teacher was actually one of the graders and have accurate scores. If you’re that concerned, definitely get a rescore, but I would check out the detail report first.

I’m pretty sure there is no such option to get a detailed score report now. In my short research, I’ve found that ap only gives out the detailed scores to Siemens in order to determine tiebreaks for that ap Siemens competition.

@dirkslam41 Yeah I read the posts about teachers’ expectations and their less draconian grading in preparation for the exam… It was just unexpected… I guess I can let it slide since it was my first AP exam. :/

If you really believe you did better, you can try to rescore, but it’s unlikely that any points will be added. It’s extremely rare; also, they don’t re-grade the FRQ’s and the MC is the smallest section of the test.

I ended up getting a 4, which was a pleasant surprise (but not too shocking) and I had a B+ in my class. My teacher was really difficult, but I know I was in the top 5 of my class. There could have definitely been some grade inflation, some distractions, something stupid like using a pencil, etc. that could’ve messed up your scores. If you can’t think of anything, opt for the re-scoring. The worst that can happen is you wasted some money.

It’s probably not wrong. You just didn’t do well on the test. But you learned a lot.

Oh phooey, I got a 3 on Calc BC and I expected a 5. I have an 800 in SAT math and math level 2. You are in denial, I doubt your score is wrong. Who cares anyway? APs don’t even matter that much in College Admissions. You probably just did bad on the test. Listen, don’t let a dumb test tell you how much you know.

Got a 5 in psych!! So happy!! Yayyy

); im soo worried about my scores

I think if you’re confident a rescore is okay, but it’s hard to tell otherwise.
