Please tell me what you think about my son. Do you think he can get into Princeton biology/pre-med?
Background: Asian Male
SAT: 2360 (once)
SAT II: (not test yet)
Weighted GPA: 4.71
Rank: 4/625
Senior: 6 APs & orch
Academic Competitions: never participated (This is what I worried about)
Academic Awards: National Merit Semifinalist, AP Scholar with Distinction

viola/piano Awards: a semi-competitive state winner (very talented on music)
Leadership: school & region orchestra principal
Volunteer: school, library, hospital; concerts at community, city and state
Job Experience: piano teacher
Character: friendly but not talkative
Also, do you think music CDs will help him get accepted?
Thanks!

What would materially change for you if I said 'yes' as opposed to 'no'? Your son might or might not get in; who knows. He should definitely apply, since he's clearly qualified, but anyone here who could tell you with any degree of precision his chances would be deluding themselves.

He certainly has the academic qualifications: great scores, and GPA, however that is no guarantee. It is impossible to know if the adcom will think his ECs will make him an an important contributor to campus life.

His essays must be bold and they must differentiate him from the [sorry to generalize] thousands of other Asians with good scores that play in orchestra. There are a lot of applicants just like him.

How about make yourself unique stats only is not going to do it. How about a video tape of you who you are??? I love princeton I am enjoying my freshman year!!! It exceded my expectation . Good Luck!!!
