Can Nd Find Out?

Has anyone come across this problem:

D was admitted to state school and has applied RD to Notre Dame (first choice). I've been told to fill out the housing contract for state school and send in $100 deposit so that she can be guaranteed a room which are assigned on a first come first serve basis. You can break the contract and get a refund if you cancel prior to May 1. However, you cannot apply for housing unless you send in your acceptance. Here's my worry. I fear ND may find out of D's decision to accept admission to state school and thus toss out or completley disregard her for possible admission. Anyone know if ND can find out? Or any other school that the student applies to? We will probably break the contract and decline admission to state school if she gets admitted to ND.

I wont send in the 100 deposit if i were u. I mean wat is there to lose, not get the number one choice housing. However, if they do find out, u might lose both acceptances, because they always have those fine prints.... As my counselor told me, by state law everyone has until 5/1. So dont worry about that. Plus u said it urself, if ur D is admitted to ND, u will send her there.

I actually disagree. ND knows you are going to apply to other schools and they understand. Additionally, I don't think there is any way they could know about it. You are safe, go ahead and send in the money. The only way ND would pull an acceptance is if your daughter was accepted Early Decision. If you are worried, you could call ND and ask them what they would recommend, but they won't have a problem with that.

No I don't think the admission committee would know or care about that. So you should be safe.

I can't imagine that the university would go to such lengths! They want students to have a Plan B... Besides, it would take a veritable Gestapo to keep up with every applicant's college decisions... I wouldn't call ND; I wouldn't even think about it again. Why would any university in its right mind do such a thing?

I highly doubt ND has the time, money, or effort to check on thousands of applicants and what other school they are applying too and where they have sent/havent sent money in...

I'd pay the hundred dollars..... those could be important if D or S decides to go to that school....

I'd send it in. My brother two years ago sent in money to secure housing at his second choice college while he was waiting to see if he got into his first choice. He ended up getting into his first choice and breaking contract with the other school. He was glad he had a back up plan, because for awhile, it didn't look like he was going to get into his 1st choice.
