It is obvious that Charlie Weiss has to go and the only thing saving him is the $30 million Notre Dame needs to buy out the remaining 7 years on his contract. I have a possible solution. With Ty Willingham having been fired by Washington, I suggest that Washington take over the Charley Weiss contract so that the Irish can get another coach and the Huskies could get Charlie. A University of Washington bailout package would be a great deal for both schools.

Since Notre Dame has apparently run out of NBC, Endowment or tuition money to end this embarrassing tenure, why not a bailout????

How about ND orchestrating their own bailout? UW has enough problems of their own. Like other public Us, the UW is going to be hurting for money next year, possibility this year as well.

True, but take a look at how our endowment has fared this year. Bain Capital has really killed us and, unfortunately, I don't see any of our endowment money being appropriated for a Weis buyout...just not a good time, after losing around 50% of our endowment investments in some funds.

I saw the comment on ND's endowment and also saw the WSJ article on Bain Capital and how one fund (who had universities like ND and Harvard invested) is reduce by 50%.

Have you seen any update on how ND total endowment has fared this year?

I expect at least 1/3 loss. (thye had high gains in recent years, so this mean high risk, so they must have gotten wacked with the downturn)
