I just finished taking the ACT. I think I did really well on math, english and reading. On the other hand, I guessed on half the science questions and didn't know what I was doing. (I never studied science and underestimated its difficulty) If I do amazing on all the other sections but ABSOLUTE crap on the science, how would colleges look at this? Thanks.

Science was definitely the hardest section.

Is it normal that I had NO IDEA what I was doing in science? This is the first time I ever LOOKED at the ACT. I was always familiar with math, reading and writing simply because the SAT made me familiar with everything and helped me with timing. But like SCIENCE, WOW!!!

since composite score is the average of three, it can....depending on how bad you screwed, and what your expectation were.

If you get a 20...your composite will not be higher than 32 (which is still an excellent score).

That's why I hate how colleges only look at composite....with SATs they look at each section. Averages are retarded....like the fridge/oven=comfortable example.

if you get half right in each section, preferably science, what will your score be in each section? I am only worried about science. I have no idea how scoring works. I am an SAT kinda guy hehe.

How exactly do they score it? I have the book, but it seems too hard to get over a 30-how is the composite calculated?

I am looking for a 32 or 33.

same here....SAT guy who knows nothing about ACT, yet miraculously did significantly better on the ACT :)
