Can optional Art supplements hurt my chances?

Here is my situation. I do pencil sketch and graphite drawing as a hobby but I never formally participated in any events or competitions. Most of my drawings are daily objects (no facial drawings because I am not so capable at doing those) and I did spend a decent amount of time (like couple hours on average for each). However, I have never really progressed my skills further in high school and never got any more professional trainings so I am not so confident in my drawings. To give an example of the stuff I draw, just google “pencil sketch objects” and most of them are very similar and close my skill level. So my question is, considering my situation, should I submit a portfolio? If I do submit my art portfolio, can that hurt my chances?

It is optional, and can only help if it is truly outstanding, and can wow the professors in fine arts. If not, do not bother to send it.

Adcoms don’t rate your art. IF the rest of your app is high quality for an admit, they may pass the supp to faculty. If you don’t feel actual faculty would rate your talent high and give a thumbs up, if you aren’t even intending to take art classes, I’m not sure how you hope this helps.
