Can poor AP scores relevant to major hurt college application if it's known I self-studied for them?

My school doesn't offer AP courses (it's a selective admissions lab school with all-honors courses, and prides itself on that) and all the AP scores I've gotten, I've gotten through self-study. My question is, considering I self-studied, do bad scores impact my application that much?

I'm taking the AP Economics tests tomorrow. In addition to not feeling super confident about the material, I've been sick these past few days and today even lost my voice. I'm interested in majoring in Economics, so thought it would be good to show some initiative and self-study for these tests, but some of the stuff is just over my head, especially since I realized too late that my test prep book wasn't the best out there.

Also, if it makes any difference, regardless of my score, I am planning on taking an economics course next fall at the university my high school is a lab school of. (Only difference is that if I get good score, I'll probably place out of the most basic classes, and if I don't get good score, I'll just take the intro classes.)

Thanks!

If you don’t get a decent score (like you don’t pass), just don’t report it. You have control over your AP scores.

If you feel really bad about how you did, you can cancel your scores up to some date in June I think. It’s before scores actually come out though.

The schools care about GPA and SAT/ACT.
