Can research experiences be acquired by non-degree?

I have high aspirations but little achievements by far, top50 CS phd is my object.
My undergrad gpa is 80 out of 100(about 3.0 in US system) and without any research experience.

Now I am planning to apply a non-degree program in the US to acquire experiences
and pubs in research. That I do not want a master program is due to the heavier
couses, which will hamper my research, comparing with those in a non-degree program .

Is this a possible approach(to secure a professor when I am non-degree)? Thx a lot!

Absolutely, I worked in biotech and as a lab tech in academia to gain research experience after undergrad. Surely, CS can offer the same sort of opportunities.
