We're very interested in the Engineering Honors Program at UT Austin. My son took SAT 1 in 10th grade (W: 760; CR: 760; Math: 710). He recently took SAT Math 2 and got 800. We're wondering if he should re-take SAT 1, due to the less than ideal math score. We would like to get some advices on the qualifications for the EHP at UT Austin, in particular if SAT II test score is even taken into consideration by the admission office. Preparing for the SAT takes time. Although his plan is to retake SAT 1, I personally prefer to let him invest his time somewhere else. I think it's more valuable to let him continue to work on his research and further develop his programming skills. Anyway, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance!

No, don’t retake. his math score isn’t that low anyways and his SAT 1 is very high already.

@guineagirl96: Thank you so much for your input! I wish that UT Austin could publish some stats for the EHP. So far I haven’t found anything on the web. I will keep searching.

You may want to do some research about the EHP itself. It’s my understanding that they simply take the top 10% of the engineering class yield and call them honors. There are no special classes. This allows you to live in the Honors Quad, and there is very little other benefit.
