I'm planning on applying to Johns Hopkins University and plan on majoring in Mechanical Engineering. It is a high reach (if not, 'unreachable' as someone said) for me based solely on my ACT scores, my GPA, and my rank, however when adding the extracurriculars I have, I do show a lot, as a couple say. Honestly, very few people can say what I can say on my application, not to sound conceded. But without that, I am a mediocre for JHU.

I took two SAT Subject Tests, Math I and Chemistry. I got a 610 in Math I and I am still waiting for my Chemistry scores. JHU doesn't require it, but they do recommend it, so I am wondering if it will hurt my scores.

I did post a "chance me" thread which has the rest of the info about my ECs if you are interested. (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1695590-chances-of-getting-into-my-list-of-schools.html)

Again, I just want to know if it will have a negative impact on my application if I add my low Math I score or not.

Bumping because I’m curious, too

610 is a low score. .avoid sending it

i had 660 in math 1 and 690 in chem so i had to retake

@Kigzcorp I was actually sick at the time I took it. I was thinking that I should avoid sending the score, even if they “highly recommend” sending it.

I might take Math II instead, even though it is a lot harder, but that is because JHU actually wants that over Math I. -_-

register for Dec sat

How did you get your test scores already?

@NEPatsGirl I took Math I in October. My Chemistry score comes on November 25.

@Kigzcorp I am still deciding if I should take Math II (since JHU highly recommends it) I do worry I will do bad.

Take Math II if you’ve taken pre-calc. As you’ve said colleges recommend it and it has a nicer curve than its counterpart.

@QuadMaster I have taken Pre-Calc but I never learned anything in it (had a teacher that never teached at all).

I am taking AP Calc at the moment.

Also what would be a low score for Math II, (especially since I am applying to Johns Hopkins, Stevens IT, and Boston U)

Anything that is 700 or above is good. Can you maybe try and take a Math II test from the official book and see how well you do(you can find it on amazon, the book also contains 2 test from math I).

@QuadMaster I really can’t buy any. If I can find one online or something, that might do good…
