can scantron read light bubbles?

can the scantron read light bubbles? because i dont really make my bubbles too dark, i make them light enough to be erasable if i decide to change my answer, anyone have experience w/ this?

just go over and darken them at the end

The way the scantron works is by comparing darnkesses, so so long as it's dark enough for the scanner to distinguish from whiteness, you'll be fine. Also, if you erase, make sure to really darken your final answer, to make the difference more profound.

Thanks Dima, I never knew that lol.

Scantrons are very sensitive..

But in case something weird happens on the SAT like you get a 600/2400, call ETS and ask for hand scoring..

scantrons can't read pen... lol

i'm sure it wont make a difference

ive always wondered why they cant read pen yet they can read pencil?

Actually, I have heard that scantrons can read any sort of marking, but out of tradition's sake, they use #2 pencils still.

No kidding... someone's just got to take the SAT with ballpoint pen, just for grins. Can't you imagine the faces of anyone else taking the test who notices that some freak is taking the SAT with a pen?

No, this is what this brave soul should do:

Math section: black pen
Verbal section: blue pen
Writing: HB lead pencil

That'd be a crack-up. It'd be easy to tell for which it registered, and for which it wouldn't.

I thought the scantron picks up the graphite content of the pencil lead, not the markings themselves.

I think they can read pen.

I thought it had to do with the shininess/reflection of pencil marks

i failed an AP chem quiz last year because i used pen.

The machine read only one of the 20 bubbles.

:-) Already done before

hmmm, I think scantrons can read pen - or at least, the machine I used to grade tests when I TA'd for physics last year scored the tests correctly even when they were done in blue ballpoint ink...

haha, I'd be up for showing up to take the SAT in pen (especially as I'm already at college and my SAT scores don't matter to anyone now :-P) just to see how other test-takers react... anybody want to come with me?

haha, ok, but we think scantrons can read light bubbles?
