http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/india/1275181-need-second-opinion-chance-me.html

Why do you guyz be cruel to new comers ?

Ok you guyz seem to be cruel to all people with SAT score > 2300 :stuck_out_tongue: thats called Ego :D

MITrockz, it’s not cruelty. It’s common sense. I scored only 2200 on the SAT. But with scores and academics like yours, it’s just a matter of paltry (or not) extracurriculars and financial aid. For that, we are in no position to comment on your chances. You would be better off calling the admissions offices and asking your chances. Can’t you wait till March?

In any case, it’s not ego. It’s the general lack of apathy we have for such people and it fumbles us as to why - people like you, with such decent stats, who consider themselves of the caliber to apply to such good universities cannot “chance themselves”. In either case, there are one of only two outcomes … a false overachieving sense of complacency or a false feeling of self-dout. As you can see, both outcomes are false. The only sane path is waiting till march.

Furthermore, in another post, you claim to be applying for first-year transfer admission from IIT Delhi … whereas you make no mention of that here. No GPA. No research. Nothing. It seems to me that our derision is well-placed.

@Tizil , hmm maybe you are right … Sorry but its not complacency … I think I am not confident about myself … By the way , its my Brother who transfered to Georgia Tech from IIT . I dont know his GPA now but he did have a 177 AIR

Btw am I supposed to cancel all my apps even to MIT as I am accepted to Stanford through EA ? I fear ! I dont want to attend Stanford actually

Sorry if I come across as harsh, but if you re-read the part in bold, you should (hopefully) have an epiphany. Your confidence, in itself, can only be affected by your own outlook and not by anonymous online posters.

And if you do believe that your outlook (and in turn your confidence) is affected by others’ opinions, then you should seek the opinion of admissions officers or guidance counselors. Not your peers - who might be just as confident or perplexed as you.

:)) Sorry again …and thanks for being nice … Anyway what about the last question ? I really doubt

I am not going to answer that question. However, I am willing to guide you to the ‘door’.

You can contact Stanford directly by:

Emailing them at intl.admission@stanford.edu or admission@stanford.edu

Calling them at +1 (650) 723-2091

Writing to them at:
“Office of Undergraduate Admission
Stanford University
Montag Hall
355 Galvez Street
Stanford, CA 94305-6106”

Hmm … Are you sure its a good idea ask such things to them ? When i spoke to my father , he told me then why the hell I applied to Stanford through EA if i didnt want to attend  well actually it was just to be safe as MIT didnt provide one and I couldnt complete my evaluation for Georgia tech too

Your father seems to be smart. Why did you apply to Stanford when you didn’t want to attend? :)

And I assure you, the path is suggested is the best one. Please choose to contact them through either option 1, 2, or 3.

Why are you so desperate to get chanced? You got into Stanford supposedly, clearly that means you’d be strongly considered for the others too. Still, nothing beyond that can be said for anyone anyway. I dont agree with Tizil, I think you are well aware of your chances and are using people’s responses as an ego boost. Well done son, you made people feel bad. Feeling good? ;)

Isn’t that exactly what I am saying?

he is a ■■■■■ people stop acknowledging him

Well not exactly, you explored the possibility of it being an actual unassuming confidence crisis.

seriously !!! a person got into stanford EA, which means he signed the agreement, does not know if he should take his MIT apllication back -> definitely a ■■■■■

By IMO you mean International Math Olympiad right? As in the real one?

I think thats ED >.<

@MysticGohan, I do not think MITrocks has been to the real IMO. A 20th rank surely means a gold medal and the last one to do so from India is already at MIT.
