can somebody explain orientation?

what is orientation?

A private preference of an individual protected by Executive Order No. 28 for heterosexuality, homosexuality or bisexuality; or a history of such a preference; or an identification with having such a preference.

But seriously, orientation is a chance to meet other freshman and to learn your way around Caltech. You'll attend lots of presentations about things like the honor code, academics, and so on. At the end of the week, there's a club fair like the one you got for prefrosh weekend except 10 times bigger and with lots of free food.

Does anybody know when freshmen are supposed to arrive on campus in September? Nothing on web site and too late to call today.

After all your friends have already left for school. :(

According to the Caltech calendar, it'll be Sep 18, one week before classes start.

we live at caltech during orientation?

Mostly, but for a while you go to frosh camp, which is typically at a nice resort somewhere.

also: you'll be finding out about all this stuff as the summer progresses -- promise! relax for now and enjoy your carefree senior year. don't worry too much about next year -- that'll all work itself it out.
