Can somebody explain what UC Reciprocity is to me?????

Ok. I knew there was an agreement called UC Reciprocity but I thought it is only when I finish all of my GE requirements in my UC campus, not just some part.

But, I saw a webpage recently saying that anyone who finishes UC Reciprocity will be exempt from taking "lower division" GEs.......

So the question is....
Do I get UC reciprocity for just taking 1 GE each quarter up to the Spring quarter of Sophmore year (Im a engineering major) ? or do I get the agreement for finishing "all" of lower and upper division GE requirement?

If my question is vaguely worded, plz explain what u know about UC Reciprocity.

If the lower division General Education (GE) requirements are completed by a UC student at their home campus prior to transferring to a new UC campus, then the student can obtain a letter of UC Reciprocity as proof of completing the requirements. The new UC campus should accept this to satisfy the new campuses lower division GE requirements.

Thank you for your reply, but I am not sure what you mean by “lower division” GE requirement. Does finishing half of “all” GE requirements satisfy “lower” GE requirement?

What exactly qualifies as “GE”? What if the GEs aren’t University-wide? The College of Engineering at UC Berkeley has “humanities requirements” other than the major requirements. Do those qualify as “GE”?

Yea, the GEs are the same as humanities in Cal, but Im not quite sure about the requirement for “lower” division GE satisfaction.

every UC school was different GE requirements you have to take. So if you take all your GEs at your school and get the reciprocity agreement signed by your school and send it to your new school you wont have to take their GE requirements.

i think the lower division GEs are just the GEs or breath requirements.
none that are specific to your major like upper division classes.

How do you get a UC reciprocity agreement? Is it a form or do you just get a letter? And whom do you get it from? I asked my counselor if my “GEs” would be complete so I wouldn’t have to do them if i transfer, and she wasn’t sure.

check with your college department advisers at your campus.

I’m at UCSB, and i went to the advisers, and they told me to write out a statement releasing the info…then they’ll be the ones to send it out.

I will check with my advisers ASAP. Did you guys actually submit a “letter” of reciprocity with the application? I didn’t…I didn’t see any place for it.
