I'm not exactly sure where these questions go so I'll just post them here.

Does senior year leadership go on the college application? There were several clubs that began in my 11th grade year that I became really involved in my senior year (leadership positions) but to colleges it may seem like I was just trying to join clubs for college when in fact, these clubs never existed my first two years of highschool.

What are considered "awards"? Are scholarships considered as awards? I know that there are several scholarship competitions that are only eligible for seniors and the winners are determined way past the due date for the college app. so would they be considered awards?

I'd reallllly appreciate if someone can link me some competitions/awards that I can compete for that deals with maybe something along the lines of business/literature/poetry/etc.

Thanks!!

1) yes

2) yes

you will have to do your own research for scholarships. some public libraries have rooms or sections dedicated to college admissions and there is usually a big book or two of scholarships that are targeted for everyone from left-handers to Armenians. It usually gets you $500 to $1000 and you have to fill out applications and make essays. Also check with your local Rotary Club.

The most significant aid comes from federal gov’t if you are elgible, and from merit or need based aid at the schools you are accepted to.

Oooh, ok. Thank you.

I’m not really looking towards scholarships for financial aid, however. My family can pay for the tuition for my college and I think it would be a bit arrogant for me to apply to scholarships for THAT purpose.

However, it seems as if many competitions are intertwined with scholarships and I’m really just looking forward to winning more awards that recognize my talents, etc. I don’t really care much for the scholarship money, to say the least.

Thanks though.
