u chicago is one of my top choice, so i'm applying there with early action.
i also want to apply to my safety school with early action, just to get it out of the way. if u chicago sees that i applied EA to another school, would that affect my chance of admission negatively?

If a school is your safety, why apply EA? I know you said 'get it out of the way,' but..

I would apply EA to your safety. It kinda depends on your safety. Like one of my safties/low matches is University of Michigan (in-state), since its ranked highly (even though I'm not too fond) it may look to other EA colleges as competition. But if your safety looks like a safety, IF somehow Chicago sees it (unlikely), then they will assume it's a safety.

Apply to several non-binding EA schools. I like the idea of one reach, one match, and one safety - that way you know where you stand before you have to send out RD applications, and you can save yourself some money on application fees.

Adcoms will NOT know what other schools you've applied to unless you choose to tell them. That holds true for both EA and RD.

^ That is true. EA to all the schools you want, because the adcoms don't know. Know, don't blow cash on schools you are not even interested in, but rather just have a safty net.
