Can someone chance an Ethiopian student?

Hello,Can anyone chance me for any of the below colleges

Stanford
Middlebury
Colgate
Duke
Amherst
Cornell

STATS:

Ethnicity:African/Ethiopian
Income Bracket : ~ 2000$
SAT I : 2230 CR,M,W - (800,740,690)
SAT II: Math , Physics - 800,800
Grades : ~ 86% 3.6 ish
ECs: None/Non existent in my country
AP:Not available
Class Rank: 5/22

Bump

I have no idea what your chances are but they would improve if you fill in something for EC. Any after school activity counts – job, community service, hobby, club sports, etc.

Well i’ll say ur sat’s are solid but ur gpa is a little low, but the admission process is pretty holistic so its nothing that good recs, an essay and some ECs wont fix. You’ll definitely get into middlebury and colgate, I had a friend with worse stats than you and got in (also Ethiopian) but the ivies, are a shot in the dark for you because of ur low-ish gpa and lack of ECs. ECs are very much existent in Ethiopia and other prospective students applying there will indicate that so I suggest you start participating in some or you wont get in. Which highschool do you go to?

@IamZeus Thanks…Yeah I guess I’ve been ignorant about the whole EC situation…Already applied so just hoping for the best. Could you give me some stats of people you know who got into the schools I applied to…I go to gibson btw

It’s gonna come down to your essays, I’d say mid reach/high reach for Stanford, reach/high match for the rest. Also ethiopian btw

@HabeshaGuy sure np :)

HS St. Joe class of '13: 3.8 GPA, 2040 SAT’s, SAT II’s were abt 750 each, did Model UN and community service and he didn’t report his rank. He got into Amherst, Colgate, Middlebury, Macalester, Trinity, and Duke. got rejected from Harvard and wait-listed from UPenn.
HS ICS class of '13: 3.95 GPA, 2240 SAT’s, SAT II’s were 800 (3 subjects), did lots of ECs, She got into Columbia, Colgate, Middlebury, Duke, Stanford and Cornell. got rejected from Harvard and Amherst.

a bunch of my classmates from bingham, had abt 2000-2100ish sats and Sat 2’s above 720. but like built a school for the needy out in Gondar so Huge EC impact, They got into most of the ivies u applied to so stats aren’t everything  and now im tired of typing lol sorry.
message me if u need any more.
Good luck tho, fingers crossed

Thnks a lot…this will help a lot of people…Got my fingers crossed too. :D

Got into Amherst  . Waitlisted/Rejected by the rest.

Congrats

@IamZeus‌ Im curious on how you place an acceptance deposit?

it’s easier if you have a relative living abroad. They can use their credit card or mail the check to the school. It’ll take forever if you try to wire it from Ethio. Gov’t has restrictions on foreign funds

Thnx

@IamZeus Sorry for pestering you but could you please elaborate on the EC’s you mentioned. A friend of mine 4.0 GPA and low ~2000 SAT was accepted to uof cincinatti and Northwestern but since he isn’t satisfied he is going to try to transfer next year and he wants to boost his EC’s this summer. Could you give me a list of Extra curricular available here.
