Can someone chance me for Dartmouth College

Hi,

Im pretty dead set on applying to Dartmouth College in the fall through Early Decision. After touring the campus, its my dream school and I’m pretty confident i could get in, but I would appreciate your feedback.

Academia: (High School ranked 18th in Washington State)

-GPA: 3.95/4
-ACT: 31
-SAT II: Haven’t received score reports back yet but confident.
-Rank: Top 5%
-AP: Will have 14 by the time I graduate, averaged a 4 in the past 9 I’ve taken.
-Senior Year Course-load: AP Calc BC, AP Econ, AP Physics, AP Lit, AP Gov, Ceramics

-Placed 2nd at the National Science Olympiad tournament for engineering event as a freshmen

Extracurricular:
-Member of Science Olympiad team, National Honor Society, Key Club.
-Have volunteered over 80 hours at Local Humane Society (will be over 100 hours at time of Application)
-Captain of my Rowing team where i put in 15 hours a week. Met with Dartmouth coach, not fast enough to be recruited but fast enough where he’s interested in me and would allow me to walk on.

-Electrical engineering Intern at Logitech for Summer of 2016 - 180 hours
-Technician at phone repair shop on Saturday’s - 1 year

Demographics:
-White
-Male
-Gay (essay writing material?)
-From Washington State (diversity of students?)
-Income bracket: 150,000-200,000

Extra:

Applied to the Dartmouth Bound Summer Program for URM (under-represented minorities) and while I didn’t get in (obviously), Dartmouth informed me that they consider me an Honorary Member of the program and they waived my 80$ application fee. As well, i received a letter from them encouraging me to apply because they consider me a “competitive applicant for the class of 2017”

You’ve got a shot, but will probably need great essays and reccs. The rowing should help. You’d have a better shot with stronger standardized testing.

Ive taken the ACT 3 times and am sitting at a 31, so is there anything else you can suggest i do to strengthen my application aside from strong essays/great reccs which I’m sure ill get?

Lightweight or heavyweight?

Lightweight, 6’ 1", 155 Pounds with a 6:40 2k

Do you have any legacies or family connections any Dartmouth? I know of some people that got into Dartmouth with the same stats or maybe a bit lower than yours, but they all were double legacies. I think that you definitely have a chance and obviously the letter they sent is really promising. I know ED is prob your best bet cuz that’s when all the Ivies acceptances rates jump to 15-25% compared to 5-12% for RD
