Can someone chance me please? I'm getting nervous

I'm a rising senior at a rigorous high school in Maryland. My GPA was, unfortunately, only 3.0 because I wasn't very attentive in my freshman or sophomore years: but I do have a good upward trend. I got a 2.4 in freshman year, a 2.8 in sophomore, and a 3.5 in junior. My SAT was a 1910, but I plan on retaking it this October-- I'm aiming for a 2000 at least. I haven't taken the ACT, but I got a 33 on the practice without studying, so I'll be taking that this September. My course load has been quite rigorous; I've taken 8 GT classes (higher than honors), 2 Honors classes, and I'll be graduating with 6 APclasses (Calculus AB, BC, Chemistry AP, German IV AP, Statistics AP, and Psychology AP). I got a 5 on the AP calc test. My senior schedule consists of 5 APs, 1 honors, and aiding my teacher. My extracurriculars include the future business leaders of America club, boxing outside of school, teaching children at my temple for 3 years, volunteering at a charity parade, volunteering at a community picnic, and interning at the Johns Hopkins medical research center over the summer. I've also taken English-121 to get ahead. What do you think my chances for schools such as College Park (Early Action) , Drexel, UMBC, Tenple, and NYU are?
Oh I also have three glowing recommendations, one from my math teacher who has seen me improve from a C student to an A student. And the other one is from a teacher I know pretty well, and he has seen that I have a strong work ethic.
I also have a very good letter from my mentor from Johns Hopkins

Also I’m an Indian male (from India, not a Native American)
I’m not sure if that helps my chances

i’ll chance for a fellow Singh! As you know, your GPA is going to hurt you …but I believe that the upward trend will help it look not as bad. Your ECs are solid as well, the internship will look great. I think if your ACT score is a 30+ you will be competitive for Temple and Drexel. I’m not sure about the others

Reach for NYU
Don’t know about UMBC
Drexel and temple should be matches. Idk about your GPA though

Hi soontobegrad, the main school I was looking at was college park.
What do you think my chances are for there?

Anyone ?

NYU: Reach
UMBC: Low match
UMD: Reach (but a lot lower than NYU)
Drexel: Low match/Match
Temple: Low match

I would say that your chances depend on what you write in your essays and how you explain your struggles and subsequent improvement. You have an slight boost from being an in-state applicant but College Park receives a lot of priority applications. Your recs have to be as good as you think they are and your essays need to be even better. Schools definitely care about junior year the most, and if you score a 33 on the ACT, that would certainly help. Make sure you take the ACT in time to apply by the priority deadline though. It can’t hurt to apply because there is some chance you could get in.

Also, be sure to send your senior year grades to update colleges if you do well.

Can I send schools my senior grades if I do EA?

Well, I checked Naviance, and it seems as though if you can get your SAT to 2100+ or ACT to 33+ and have a weighted GPA of 3.6+, you’d have a really good shot at getting in.

You can send updates on anything and they’ll add it to your file. Sometimes it helps to wait until the regular decision deadline to submit your application if you can raise your grades, but for College Park, it’s extremely important to apply by the priority deadline if you’re at all borderline.

Consider this: if it could help you at all to send it, send it. It’s even better if you can have your guidance counselor send your grades for you because then it’s official.

Thanks a bunch man, but do you think my ECs are sufficient, and does my internship help?

Your ECs are strong and having the internship certainly helps. Good luck!
