Can someone clear up the National AP scholar thing for me?

So it says you should have an average of 4s on your exams...does this literally mean 4 or above on each exam, or can you have one 3 and one 5 and they average out to a 4?

(and yes I know you have to take 8 exams for this award)

I think by average they mean average.

Otherwise, they would probably say “4 or higher”.

National AP Scholar
Granted to students in the United States who receive an average score of at least 4 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams.

Yes, you have to have an average score of at least 4 on all AP exams taken. However, you ALSO have to have scores of 4 or higher on EIGHT or more of these exams. You need to earn at least a 4 on EIGHT or more your AP Exams.

^are the 8 ap exams required to be from the same year? so if I got a least a 4 on 9 ap exams from junior and senior year, would that count?

It’s cumulative, so that would count
