Can someone clue me in on something?

Ok, so AP scores came back today (yay), but I got two 3s on my APs (Lang, and APUSH), now what does that mean? I know that the lang 3 gave me Lang 1 but not Lang 2 for the 2nd semester, but the APUSH one has me scratching my head, do I still have to take a history class? How does this work exactly?

A 3 on APUSH gives you credit for the first half of APUSH (3 credits, to 1877 or so). A 4 or 5 would have given you credit for both halves.

You’re right that a three on AP Lang gives you credit for a semester of English, but a three on APUSH only gives you credit for an American history elective which doesn’t really exist as a class, it’s called like AMH1000. You get three hours towards your degree, but you still have to take at least one semester of American history [introductory American history classes are AMH2010 (up to 1877) and AMH2020 (1877 to the present)] for your general education classes. Well, actually, I suppose you could take world history or European history instead, but I’m sure that most people who aren’t history majors just take American history. But, the gist of what I’m trying to say is that you did not complete any general education requirements by getting a three on APUSH.

Ah, that sucks. At least I can use that as some hours. What does AP Govt. count as? I have to take that next year, could I use that as a history course?

I would recommend taking both AP Government and AP Macroeconomics next year. For the “Social Foundations” of the General Education, UCF requires 3 credit hours of either Govt or Economics and 3 credit hours for Psychology.

Take both AP Gov and AP Economics because you only need to pass one of them to get credit. Also consider AP Psychology. It’s an EASY class and you’ll need that credit for UCF anyways.

This year, I passed AP Government but not AP Macro. But it doesn’t matter to me that I failed the AP Macro exam cause UCF will still fulfill my credits with my AP Gov credit.

I also agree with all of letloose’s suggestions. If you take both AP Government and AP Macro, you’ll have something to fall back on for your general education if you don’t pass one. But also, some majors (anything business related) require that you take economics anyways, so you could get more credit towards your major if you take both. And AP Psychology has one of, if not the highest passing rate of all AP exams, definitely consider it.

My school requires that I take those very two classes next year. Also, I have AP Psychology on my class list for next year, but I dont know if I am going to get it. Thanks for the advice! So what are all the classes that you are required to take in Freshman/Sophmore year? In reguards to general ed. classes.

We’re required to take very basic english, math, history, and science courses. But those can be easily taken care of with AP credits. With all my credits. I already have most of my Gen Ed’s cleared out.

I am taking AP Lit, AP Physics, and AP Calc next year, so I should be able to knock out 3 of those if I get the right scores. I messed up on History when I got a 3 and not higher. But that should not be too bad.
