I am looking into 3 colleges, but this one college has everything I need academically, so it's my first choice. I will be applying as a transfer.

Acceptance rate: 73%
SAT Scores: Between 1340 and 1640
GPA to transfer: 2.0

My high school GPA: 2.3 (but it may change)
SAT score: 1230
Community college GPA: 3.1

What are my chances of acceptance?

I mean, you have the GPA to transfer, so I would say you have a good chance, but your SAT score is lacking. I’m not sure how your school weights the score in terms of the admission process, seeing as there is no school indicated.

I’d get those SATs up just in case, perhaps some college/HS EC’s would’ve done you good. Though it would’ve helped if you provided the school’s name. Also, I beleive there’s a special forum dedicated to transfer chances.

I will also write an essay. My topic will explain why I did not do well in high school, because there is a reason.

Yeah, that’s good. But don’t make it seem stupid. DO NOT say things like my girlfriend broke up with me, I wanted to chill with friends, etc. Make it very intellectual… write that you were emotionally lost, and didn’t know what you were doing, who you were, etc. After high school you picked up on yourself, and have now gained the emotional stability and maturity to truly accomplish and drill into your potential.
Have fun.
