Can someone explain Conversion Tables for Sat Practice test #3 and on?

Can someone explain Conversion Tables for Sat Practice test #3 and on? For example, on Practice Test 5 in the Blue Book, I missed 3 and omitted 1 for Math, meaning -5 on my raw score, which is 49. On the Mathematics Conversion Table, it says my score would be 680-740, which I don't understand. Can anyone explain this? And say during the November Sat's I got a 49 math raw score, what score would I have gotten? Thanks!

After practice test 3, the tests weren’t actually used for a real SAT, therefore only a score range can be projected. On tests 1-3, the score is based on overall difficulty and the scores of everyone who took the test when it was actually used, and that’s why a specific score can be determined.

alright, thanks alot
