<p>well the area of a triangle is 1/2bh. so you do 1/2(x-1)(x+1)=(x^2-1)/2 so the answer is E</p>

<p>2 ways to solve this problem. Either you could do what pchau12 did and do it conceptually, (1/2)(Base)(Height) using the variable </p>

<p>OR</p>

<p>You could pick an arbitrary number for X, and then compute the area. Then check the answers by plugging in your chosen value for X and see which one gets you the same area</p>
