Can someone explain to me why?

Why does a public health major require social science courses?
I'm not too sure why i have to take different social science courses for a public health major....

Thanks!!!

“Public Health is a liberal arts major which introduces undergraduates to public health issues such as determinants of health, emerging infectious diseases, chronic diseases, access to health care and modes of health care delivery, the geography of health, and the effects of environment on health and disease. Students also learn to apply the scientific method, use evidence-based decision making, identify the impact of policy on health, and about tools of assessment and evaluation.”

Because it’s a lot about the society?

Personally, I think it should require even more social science/arts & science courses. That’s part of the reason I’ve decided on a different major.

If you don’t think social sciences are important in public health, you probably don’t know a lot about public health.
