I'm a junior in high school and i really need some guidance on what to major in. I have my clear areas of interest, I'm just struggling to find some practicality in it all. Here's a little bit about me....

So I have been a dancer since I was four and I have competed since I was eight. I have had a very successful career in dance and it's something I love and always want to take part in but not neccessarily make a living out of. I have been doing musicals since I was 12 and I absolutely love them. I love bringing a character to life and the theatre atmosphere. I started taking private singing lessons six months ago and I'm realizing how much I love performing in general. Honestly, however, I would never just want a major in some area of performance because the business is so risky and I want to have more options.

Then there's my grades... I'm in all AP and honors classes, my gpa is a 4, I get all A's and B's (okay I got one C in AP calc) I am pretty much only looking at big name, selective schools (NYU, Pace, Temple, Syracuse, Ithaca...)

And my personality...I'm the kind of person that can not do the same thing over and over unless I love it 100%..and even then I get bored sometimes. I have been thinking of maybe getting a double major in Musical Theatre and Theatre general or business general. Something along those lines. In life, I would really like to be able to bounce back between having a job onstage sometimes and having a job offstage but still in the theatre atmosphere. I'm not sure how else to say this but like if I were to write down my accomplishments at the end of my life I want it to be diverse, I want to have done a lot. Something like..dancer, actor, director, producer, business owner...if that makes sense!

So if anyone at all has some suggestions on what they think would be a good major for me do not hesitate to comment.

Also, if anyone knows exactly what a general theatre major does, or if anyone knows a general theatre major, can someone explain exactly what that major does/is?
