<p>The only people (beyond V-S) from our area that has gotten substatial $$ merit from Vanderbilt have been high stat hispanics, which Vandy is looking for their diversity - one had full tuition, her sis had half tuition (slightly lower stats); S (by a smidge - probably fair to say co-V) had half scholarship; another top hispanic, Vanderbilt matched what ND would give (full tuition plus, with financial need) and student went to Vandy due to geographic proximity to family. Over the past years I have gotten the impression that many who consider the ivies consider Vandy the ‘safety’. Classmate of my D, kept testing ACT 30 (straight A’s with lots of AP in selective HS) with older sibling in Vandy med school (after completing UG at Vandy) - Vandy would not consider him unless his ACT was 31; he went to Emory.</p>
