@billcsho I was initially emailing it to the generic FA email, so I did not want interns to have too much information. That’s what I meant. I do not understand why you are always trying to put people down. How about you build them up instead in a respectful manner?
So much depends on the school, their aid situation, their policies and your value to them (IF they are in a situation to be able to offer more to top candidates). My advice is to articulate your concerns. They will either say they can provide more aid, or they will tell you they cannot.
Yes, I already contacted them. Unfortunately, they denied my appeal for more aid (although they said they wish they could offer me more because I am a “stellar” student). Nice way to end it off with the school - I must say.
@aznboi4981 Why did you say Rowan is “worse” than your current school? In what area is Rowan worse? and what is the problem with Rutgers? (Just trying to find why my DD shouldn’t be considering either college)
Schools only have a limited amount of aid to offer, and some have very strict awarding policies to which they must adhere. When I worked at a public U, I had absolutely no discretion to increase awards. It’s good that you tried, because you know you did everything you could.
I applied to Tulane as a transfer.
My EFC is 0.
Got the school’s highest merit transfer scholarship of $16k. My other FA was a $1,000 grant, and $5920 federal grant. And then like $7500 in loans and $3500 in work study.
I’m beyond confused. There’s just no way?
How about this option…you claim you have $23,000 in assets to spend on college. And you have a full tuition scholarship to your current college.
How about finding a small studio apartment off campus in which to live. Or see if there are apartments with students where you could share.
OR live ON CAMPUS at your small LAC. $23,000 a year should pay for that.
I just tell you the truth that you don’t like to hear. You do not have a strong reason to appeal a FA that “disappointing” you. That seems to be the consensus here.
This student may have a FAFSA EFC of zero, but css profile would indicate a much higher family contribution. Doesn’t Tulane use css profile? If so, then assets counted.
Take a year off, don’t apply for spring transfer…spring students get worse aid.
Also, do the parents own a business?
Take a leave of absence for your year off so that you can return if you find that to be your best option.
