Can Someone Help Me Out

Hello everyone. I am fairly new to college confidential and this is my first post. If anyone can respond it would be very helpful.

I am a rising senior from NJ and I will be applying to colleges soon. I want to know what you guys think my chances are for these schools and if you guys have any advice:

Unweighted GPA - 87.1 on a 100 scale
(My school does not rank or weight and all of our classes are either honors or AP. I have taken 2 AP classes. My school is also a selective magnet school).

ACT: 26 (I am retaking in a month for a higher score).

Extra Curriculars:
Volunteered at a hospital this entire summer (about 120 hours).
Active Church Member (4 years)
Chess club (Media Chairperson, 3 years)
Yearbook Club (Editor, Advertising Manager, 2 years)
SMAC (Student Movement Against Cancer) Member helps raise money and organize my school's annual relay for life event
Health Occupations Students of America Member (4 years)
Track and Field (2 years)
I expect to have great recommendations and a good college essay.

Schools I'm applying to:
University of Pennsylvania
George Washington University
Boston University
Rutgers University
The College of New Jersey
University of Pittsburgh
Quinnipiac University
Seton Hall University
I'm African American if that's worth noting.

What do you guys think? Which universities do you think I have a shot at? I know Penn is a huge stretch but it's always good to try. Also any tips for being a more competitive applicant? Any input is much appreciated!

UPenn: out of reach
GWU: high reach
BU: mid reach
Rutgers: mid match
College of NJ: high match
Pitt: low reach
Quinnipac: low match
Seton Hall: safety

Good luck! :)

I don’t think “it’s always good to try” if you’re going to be wasting money on application fees and if you know it won’t yield anything.

I also forgot to add Syracuse University. What would you categorize that as? And do you think my chances will improve overall if I get my ACT up to let’s say 28 or 29?

If you are willing to pay the money and write the essays, apply to Penn for the hell of it. It’s nice just to give it a shot because it’s now or never.
