Can someone help me to decipher the difference here..

Hey all,

I currently work at Smith Barney in Pittsburgh as a financial advisor intern, basically just assisting a team of financial advisors in their day to day activities. I recently began having interest in the consulting industry and may be having a phone conversation with a company called Highland Consulting, out of cleveland -- however, when i looked at their website, it seemed like they were doing the same things as financial advisors but without that title...can someone look at this website http://www.highlandusa.net/ and please tell me if what im thinking is true or not? Or is this, essentially, what it means to be a business consultant, and it actually does differ from being a financial advisor?

Looks like any other FA firm. I believe your intuition was correct. Are you thinking of Consulting Consulting? Like big bad Bain, McKinsey, Monitor, Boston Consulting Group, etc?

I'd recommend the Vault guide first and foremost. Your career office should have it for free.
