i've asked tons of questions here about scheduling but i still don't get anything! so far i only got Warren writing 10A and a math class, which i don't know what to take...

can someone personally (as in messaging etc) help me with my fall schedule? i''m an incoming freshman and undeclared in Warren! i'm interested in majors like public policy, law, and communication!

i know the GEs and the basic classes to take for Fall, like Warren writing 10A and a math class for formal skills.

i'm sorry if i seem lazy and incapable of doing it on my own, but i did try! thanks in advance!

Wow your interest in majors and your dilemma on what class is just like me except I’m in erc.

okay well here is what ucsd warren suggests their freshman to take:
-a writing course
-a formal skills or ge course
-lower div. major course
-lower div major course, ge class, or elective
-freshman seminar

so i’m a political science major… so i plan on taking:
- POLI 12- a lower div. major course
- POLI 30- a lower div. major course and also a formal skills course
- WCWP10A- warren writing
- SIO 15- sort of an elective, also probably the beginning of one of my programs of concentrations
- PHIL 87- freshman seminar

since you don’t have a major yet, instead of that lower div major course you could just take another elective type thing in one of the areas you are interested

i found this site really helpful while trying to figure it out

(i hope it works for you)
if not, go to triton link, virtual advising center and it will come up with some message about how it doesn’t work right now, but click on the link and it should take you there.

@sarah!
thank you! so you are planning to take five courses or freshman seminar (i’ve never heard of this!) doesn’t count…? i thought 4 courses were number of doable courses…
-what’s SIO15 btw?
-and do you know how POLI30 will be?

freshman seminar isn’t really a class- it only meets once a week for about 50 minutes (and sometimes not for the whole quarter) and is only 1 credit and doesn’t have a final. i think freshman are required to take one. here is lots of stuff about them:
[UC San Diego | Undergraduate Education](<a href=“Academic Affairs”>Academic Affairs)

SIO15 is a scripps institute of oceanography class. it’s natural disasters and it is supposed to be pretty good for fulfilling GEs

POLI30 will probably be my hardest class. it’s a statistics in politics class- if i understand it right. apparently it can be pretty hard if you aren’t great at math.

Freshmen aren’t required to take the seminars but I’ve heard good things about them. They’re easy 1 units.

oh okay! thanks for letting me know. i wasn’t sure.

Yeah no prob it’s good that you’re taking one, I wish I had!

I can help you with scheduling if you have any specific questions.

thank you! i sent you a private message but you didn’t respond,… maybe you just don’t ? should i just post it here?

Oops, my bad. I read your message but forgot to respond. I’ll do it now.

definitely take a seminar or two if you can fit them in your schedule. I took the Sociology of Popular Music one and it was pretty cool, only met once a week for the first month of the quarter, and you had to bring in a music sample on one of the weeks. there are other ones like SIO that involve a field trip to the pier, beginning ukelele which I always wanted to take :), physics in the movies… so just try one out!
